More than a month in the bathroom
A thirteen-year-old girl named Kendra Wilson as usually went to school in September 1998. After school, her father was supposed to pick her up to go to the mall for buying clothes. But, everything happened differently: near the school her grandparents were waiting for her, and informed the teenage girl that her father had an accident and told them to pick her up instead of him. The girl, of course, believed her family and went with them, although before that relatives did not communicate and were in bad relations. When the girl was taken to an unknown house, she was told that her father was in the bathroom she went into that room and was immediately locked up. She was kept there for 41 days and fed poorly. The girl was found by her mother, whose parents were kidnappers. She did not know about their plans. As the father received custody of the child, the grandparents decided to return the granddaughter to her mother, while substituting her father. As a result, the girl returned to her father and after that she had been visiting a psychotherapist for several years.
In Kansas City in 1967, a terrible kidnapping happened right near the victim's home, which happens rare. The victim of the kidnappers was sixteen-year-old Michelle Musgrove, who was stolen less than 3 miles from her place of residence. The abductors were two men, adherents of a religious cult. They put the girl in a specially equipped cellar. At first she was even treated well and well-fed, but eventually she was not allowed to leave the cellar. When she wanted to fall asleep, the sadists loudly included religious music, which contained coded messages. So they wanted to convert the girl into their faith. As a result, it turned out that the girl practically did not sleep and was constantly in an exhausted state. She was found in 2 years, when one of the friends of the abductors told the police about the girl. After liberation, she could not recover for several years. She had problems with sleeping and psyche, and she had been visiting a therapist for a long time.
Girl for half a million
This kidnapping is one of the worst nightmares for any person. Its involuntary participant in 1968 was Barbara Mackie. The girl was taken straight from the motel in Georgia. Her captors entered the room under the guise of policemen and took her out of there. The kidnappers drove the girl out of the city and buried alive in a fiberglass-reinforced box. It was equipped with electric lighting lamps and had ventilation. Barbara was buried not very deep, but she did not know about it. Imagine the horror of being in a place that looks like a lighted coffin and is underground. The purpose of the kidnapping was a ransom of half a million dollars, which the girl's father paid. He was a rich businessman who received his income from working with real estate. Because of the problems with the negotiations of the ransom, the girl spent more than 3 days underground. The girl was found by experts from the FBI, and the kidnappers were put in jail. The girl was dehydrated, but fortunately did not get a psychological trauma. The criminals were released ahead of schedule.
Boy on the boat
Almost all the stories about kidnapping have something in common: the existence of a victim, the presence of a closed space where it is held and the lack of the ability to escape. Nevertheless, there are exceptions, which are also terrible, especially when the child suffers from them. Jose Garcia in June 2001, the 11-year-old boy was kidnapped by one of his father's staff and put on the board of floating ship in order to blackmail his boss. What happened during the time when the child was in this captivity it was never spread into public. Nevertheless, he was found in the hold of the ship among his own vomit and body wastes. The child was extremely exhausted and suffered from seasickness. His kidnapper often left the boy on a boat alone and only occasionally brought him food and water so that he would not die. The kidnapper was a man named Juan Maribel Ortega. He was discovered by the police, but he committed suicide in order to bear responsibility for his crime.
Jackie, a girl who was rescued by a dog
In July 1979, three men grabbed and tied Jackie Davis-Holmes when she was heading toward her car on a poorly lit street. They pushed the girl into the car and at very high speed drove to a rented house in Pulaski, TN. All three kidnappers raped a 28-year-old girl, and when she was unnecessary, they tied her with ribbons of the bound tape and ropes. In this position, Jackie spent most of her captivity, which lasted several weeks. The salvation for the girl came unexpectedly: a neighbor of her rapists was coaching his hunting dogs nearby. When one of dogs broke away from him and he ran to catch up with the dog, he approached the territory where Jackie was and heard female screams. After that he called the police and the rapists were arrested. The condition of the liberated girl was severe because of constant malnutrition, dehydration and ill-treatment by her tormentors.
The boy who managed to escape
In 1978, in Yellowstone National Park, an adult man kidnapped a seven-year-old boy. He was able to commit this kidnapping only after he done several walking around the campground and chose the most convenient time for him. The 48-year-old Stanley Everett Gomes just grabbed the boy, threw him into his car and left the place of abduction at full speed. The passenger door was well closed, so the boy did not have the opportunity to make the planned escape. Nevertheless, he drew attention to the back door with an unstable rear window. The boy waited until his captor looked away. At that moment, seven-year-old Avery Duckworth crawled to the back of the moving car and jumped off it when the kidnapper pressed the brakes to reach to his victim. So, everything did not happen as the attacker suspected: the child ran into the forest and he could not catch up with him. The boy was found after 3 days in the forest full of wild beasts. He came across a group of tourists. As for the kidnapper, he confessed to the crime when he was detained for another kidnapping.
Forget your name
In 1995, thirteen years old Jessyca Mullenberg voluntarily went on a trip with her neighbor, 38-year-old teacher Steve Oliver. The man found an excuse for such a trip: the girl's work can be read by eminent writers at the conference where they go. With this excuse, he drove the girl a few hundred miles away. The girl recalls that the man waited until she fell asleep, tied her, and when she woke up, he very rudely told her that from now on her name was Cindy Johnson, and he was her father, David Johnson. He told her if someone would wonder why she looked sad, it was because her mother and twin brother recently fell victim to a terrible car accident. After that he took the girl and flew with her to Houston, where he lived in several hotels and constantly raped the child. The truth was revealed only after more than 3 months. Fortunately, the show America's Most Wanted broadcast the story of this girl, and one of the hotel workers recognized her from photos and immediately called the police. So, after that the girl's nightmare ended.
In the early 60's, once in the head of one vile rapist came an even more vile idea than he was himself. Stewart Ashland decided to kidnap girls, rape them and then dazzle them so they could not identify him if they had the opportunity. This idea for a bank employee was reinforced by the fact that in the neighborhood there were houses that were built and were not sold. So he realized that he could keep victims there and after they leave they would not be able to identify the place. Rosa Lavanga was the latest victim of the pervert. He was waiting for her at the office, since he knew that she usually lingered at work. To lure her into the car, he pretended that he had problems with the battery, and then he brutally knocked her down and dragged into the car. After that, he tied her to the battery of one of the cellars and burned her eyes with acid. For several days she was raped and she already said goodbye to the idea of getting out alive. She was found by a real estate agent who came there, and the neighbor identified the attacker, as he saw him driving here.
The abduction of children of wealthy parents is, unfortunately, a common thing. Nevertheless, this case surprised even the FBI, as the kidnappers of 12-year-old Matthew Kendall Kendall, whose parents owned a rather successful chain of restaurants and bars in the suburbs of Chicago, demanded too much. Why is it surprising? Typically, the attackers know their victim well and do not require an amount that the victim's relatives cannot pay. The kidnappers demanded 250 million dollars. Can such parents that have worked hard for 20 years on a network of institutions for food and drink afford it? I do not think so. The unfortunate parents did not have even assets that they could sell, as well as borrow from someone. The kidnappers got in touch immediately after the kidnapping and a week after that. In the last message, they demanded the same huge sum and did not talk about whether the boy was alive. After that, the calls stopped, and the unhappy parents learned about the fate of their son only after 12 years, when in 2012 the boy's body was found on the construction site.
The boy in the crypt
According to the admissions of many people, this story may well be apocryphal. It may be considered that this is just a city legend, but all because there are too few reliable facts in this story. According to this legend, a cemetery employee kidnapped the boy and kept him locked up in a mausoleum in Whitehall, Illinois for five years. According to all the same information, the boy was both a son and an animal for his kidnapper, because he fed him and allowed him to go out for a walk only at night and only on a leash. The victim of this abduction was allegedly Lemuel Hudson, who lived near the cemetery and met there with his kidnapper gray-haired Porter. This man really was a suspect in the disappearance of the boy, but the police did not even think to look for him in the crypt. This story was spread by one of the local newspapers, but evidence of the involvement of this man in kidnapping the child was never found.
Most of the stories from our small list occurred within the US. However, in England there are also sometimes so shocking abductions that they should also be included in this list. The 15-year-old Anna Ruston was kidnapped and kept locked up for more than 13 years. The unfortunate victim was constantly subjected to sexual violence and was pregnant for 4 times. Her captor Mike equipped a basement for the girl, where he brought her only a little food. She met the natural needs in a bucket. The babies Anna gave birth to, her kidnapper planned to sell to provide her hideous existence as a sex slave. After liberation, the unhappy woman could not bear the smell of garlic and human excrement that haunted her everywhere. This is due to the fact that the kidnapper very often raped her and from him was precisely this terrible stench. The former victim is now 40, but she still cannot get rid of her fears.
Kidnapping children and women for sexual pleasures is one of the most common motives for kidnappers. Not an exception was the story of the unfortunate Sheila Wamhorst, which was found on a stony field in New Mexico in 1997. The girl was beaten very badly, and her face was almost unrecognizable. She became a victim of abduction for the sake of rape. She was taken away from the bar and drove a few dozen kilometers from that place. The girl was forced to take drugs, and when she woke up abductors started beating and raping her, so she does not remember the faces of her tormentors. On the fact of rape, a criminal case was opened and the investigation established that Sheila was raped by at least four men. Violence may have continued many times during 2 days and 2 nights. The girl herself remembers very badly, as she was constantly beaten and raped, and the action of drugs has not yet been fully stopped being active. Her tormentors were never found.
9-year-old Benjamin Klopper from Tennessee was kidnapped straight from school. His parents were simply horrified by what had happened and wanted to see their child as soon as possible. The only thing they were able to do was to follow the kidnapper's instructions and he demanded from them fifty thousand dollars. He talked with them as an Englishman from high society and put forward all demands in a polite manner. After the FBI together with parents collected money for him, he constantly changed the place where he wanted to be left with a ransom, because he was afraid that they would find him. A week and a half later, the FBI managed to track down this kidnapper. Although the parents knew that every hour spent may reduce the chances to see their boy alive, they hoped. Unfortunately, it happened. The kidnapper killed him long before the police arrived. Horrified parents decided to see whether the kidnapper of their child was a representative of a high society or not, but it was an ordinary criminal who behaved far less politely in prison.
By footsteps of Nietzsche
Not all people understand well that the author tries to convey to them by his teaching, especially when the author is philosopher. This is especially reflected in sick people. And how else can we call two rich students from Chicago who murdered a 14-year-old boy without any motive. They decided to commit the perfect crime, as Nietzsche said, so they chose an accidental victim for these purposes. Their main motive was only murder, which no one would be able to disclose, and nothing more. It all started with the fact that in 1924 Bobby Franks was returning from school, and two familiar students offered him to walk. The teenager did not mind, because he admired these young people. After that he followed his killers to the car, where he was brutally beaten to death with the help of a chisel. It is still unknown who exactly struck. Nevertheless, one of the criminals left their points on the scene of the crime, by which he was recognized. The perpetrators were arrested and sentenced to lengthy imprisonment.
In the hands of a cannibal
The story that closes this list happened in the distant 1928. At that time, letting go of your child with a stranger was a common practice, so the parents of a small Grace Budd let her go with a good-natured old man, because he said he was leading a child to a birthday party. Initially, the cannibal planned to kidnap another child of this couple, but unfortunately for the girl, the main door was opened by her. Unfortunately, the kidnapper of the girl was not an ordinary person, as he was listed as the most dangerous and crazed rapist of children throughout the country. During the interrogations, he himself was not able to name the number of his victims. And this is not surprising, because he acted rather cautiously and gave himself out only by sending a letter to the parents of his last victim. In it, he told how he killed and ate her. This cruel murderer and rapist was sentenced to death in an electric chair. The verdict was put into action very quickly.
